Amanda Brugel
Pointe Claire, a quiet community situated in the West Island of Montreal is one of those "sleepy" place. This part of Montreal is known as the West Island has a lot of diverse communities. People who have never been aware of it frequently think it is a separate, west-facing island. Amanda Brugel's birthplace is frequently mentioned, but her brief stay wasn't. Brugel grew on Courtice just outside Oshawa within Ontario. The first goal she had was to pursue a career as an actress but after a sudden expansion, she and her partner weren't able to dance along with her. In a recent interview with the Toronto Star, she confessed that "In heels I am 6 feet, 1 inch." The moment I outgrew my male counterpart, I stopped. Many ex-dancers switch to acting. In the case of Brugel it was because of the advice by her drama instructor at her high school which pushed her to the path she needed. It was her teacher who encouraged her to try out to play the character of Anne in the school's annual production. It was her choice to take on the principal part in Anne of Green Gables after she tried out. The show led her to receive the award of a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theatre Program and graduated with a Bachelor in Fine Arts degree in 2000. In the last 20 years, Brugel's roles in the world of television and on the screen have varied. The role of Rita from the award-winning series The Handmaid's Tale was her most memorable. Brugel is the sole Canadian on the season 1 The Handmaid's Tale cast and seen only occasionally, was the sole Canadian.
